They say you can't teach old dogs new tricks, and their "hit-piece" approach to journalism is tired proof of this. YouTube user "crowbcat" made a video claiming that the graphics in the first Dead Rising for XBox 360 are better than Dead Rising 4 on XBox One. What an absolute dogshit claim. So as not to give the video clicks for any sort of attention and/or monetization, I did not watch it when it was referred to me. However, without even watching it, it's safe to say that the claim in the video isn't even possible when the inevitability of technological advancement is considered. Plainly put, the advancements in technology from one generation to the next make what "crowbcat" claims impossible. Period. I doubt the video used any real evidence or reliable sources. It's highly unlikely that they used any sort of polygonal count numbers or anything of the sort, but if they actually did, it was likely skewed far from the original facts. Possible, but highly unlikely. Then again, these are said to be ex-EGM staff, so we can't expect much in the way of logical discourse. Sure, they probably know a lot about frat games like beer pong, but not very much about video games. At the time of this writing, no formal announcement of them being ex-EGM staff has been made or cited, but I wouldn't doubt it. The parallels between the low-quality work on the "crowbcat" YouTube channel and the pages of 2000's era EGM are disappointingly similar. If they are not related in any way, consider this apology in advance. If they are indeed one in the same, consider them our nemesis in digital as they were in print. As always, YouTube and big media sites trashed Dead Rising 4 for reasons that just don't matter. One of the reasons was because it was only on XBox One and not multi-platform at the time of its release. Forget about games being developed for and optimized on specific hardware; the facts mean nothing to the mob. Though Capcom tried being quiet about it, Dead Rising 3 and 4 were both developed on the Forge Engine. This is the reason both games came to XBO first. It's not that hard to understand. Still, though, they used it as a reason to bash it. This is questionable, especially since they don't do same to PlayStation 4 exclusives. YouTube dumbfucks like "crowbcat" that made subjective comparisons passed as fact undoubtedly affected the reception of Dead Rising 4, too. It is said that the creator(s) of that channel are somehow connected to 2000's era EGM, and with the complete lack of integrity on display, it comes as no surprise. |
