It still feels special picking up a new game in Capcom's iconic VS series. It's so exhilirating. Everything is so memorable, and each purchase feels so similarly memorable; the sun shining bright on the drive to pick it up, paying for it in person, receiving it in hand, the sun shining beautifully over head, the growing excitement on the drive back home... |

It's a great feeling, and one that hasn't changed no matter how much the series has. Every time I get a new one, I get this feeling, and every time I get this feeling, I remember all the other times I felt it. When I remember all the times I felt it, I remember every game in the series, and remember how much I love this series. Going through and doing the same combos that have been carried over throughout the series in each new generation. There's a special sentimental feeling. Of course, the toxicity of its xenophobic scene is enough to make anyone question that love for the series, or even resent it. But, it's like that relationship with the one that got away; the love is always still there, no matter the bad times. My fondness for the series never wavered, despite its connection to encounters with some of the most despicable people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. As Poison The Well puts it, "Bad memories and good times..." |

Those who so heavily criticize Marvel VS Capcom Infinite probably haven't been around since its inception, don't understand the growth of the series, or just never liked the series in general. For these types of people, games are a mere fashion statement, completely and absolutely determined by the corporate media powers they loan their faith to. Even worse are the shrewd, scene-stealing slave drivers who use games primarily as a vehicle for money-making. To each their own, but these types just take up space and criticize the game to fit in and be a part of something. In a world where everyone is starving for attention, the most desperate of them all will sell-out and criticize anything for popularity or fame. To them, Marvel VS Capcom Infinite (or whatever game is determined by their media masters at the time) is the necessary sacrifice to achieve that fifteen seconds of fame. At least those who never liked the series are following their own preferences. It always takes more strength to stand out than it does to just follow. |
