Though not essential to enjoy the game, it would have definitely been more fun if the rumors of a 4-Player option would have been true. The first Marvel VS Capcom had this, and boy was it a blast with friends. Me and my college buddies had a blast duking it out in 4-Player Marvel VS Capcom, and even though we all probably wouldn't be able to get together again to pile into a dorm room again to duke it out in Marvel VS Capcom Infinite, it would still be cool to do online. With the Soul Gem, I could just imagine all the crazy combos that would be possible in MVSCI. Why? Because me and my friends did some of those crazy combos in 4-Player MVSC! Many players I have introduced the game to became lifelong fans, but more than a few of them have mentioned 4-Player in one capacity or another. Whether it be during Soul Gem activation or simultaneously in a sort-of battle royale, 4-Player support has definitely been one of the more common fan requests I've heard. Combos are such a big part of the series' legacy, and co-op combos would have been mind-blowing. That legacy of combos can be seen through the work we did while GPOW was still alive. Before BADCP (BAD'S COMMENTARY PAGE), there was BCP (BAD'S COMBO PAGE). The site was devoted to attack combinations for Capcom (and later SNK fighting games). It was originally inspired by the wealth of information on moves and combos in the guides made by VERSUS BOOKS and GAMEFAN BOOKS for Capcom fighting games. The goal wasn't just to find and put the best and/or most damaging combos on the Internet - it was to put the most combos in one place, on the Internet. There were about four or five of us who made all of the combos. Hours, days, weeks, and months were put into it, and even then there were many more found later by players much more skilled than us. Some combos were composed, but never featured on BCP before BADCP came along. BADCP featured some (Capcom Fighting Evolution), but it wasn't a focus like it was for BCP. Marvel VS. Capcom Infinite was really like a throwback to that era, both in combos that were on the site, and in combos that were never published on it. Marvel VS Capcom Infinite features a ton of cool match-ups from past games, and even some of the combo that those teams had back then. Useful, not useful, damaging, not damaging...there were combos for all player types on BCP, and many of those combos are actually still in Marvel VS. Capcom Infinite after all these years! Sure, they may look slightly different, but the old combos live beneath the modern technology that powers its exterior...

The only other thing I'd really change about Marvel VS. Capcom Infinite is the screenshot restrictions. Yes, there are restrictions on what you can take screenshots of. Who cares about ownership rights and what you paid for? Just shut up and accept what the cultural overlords deem you worthy of having. Even more amazing screenshots of all the cool stuff in MVSCI could have been provided in this article (single-player Story Mode, the cool Extra Mode) but Capcom or Marvel put some stupid block on it. And for what? "Spoilers"? Let Millennials over-exaggerate and throw themselves through windows or whatever they do when they hear a spoiler. It would have been nice to have been able to take screenshots of the cool scenes that unfold, so as to pay tribute to all the hard work for MVSCI that has gone mostly unnoticed. Looks like the Internet mob ruined yet another aspect of yet another game. Now that's change. Thanks, assholes! |

It's crazy how the media acted like MVSCI has no appeal whatsoever, yet every person I've ever introduced it to just had to play it. To those whose views have not been tainted or swayed by the social media mob, MVSCI has an irresistible allure. MVSCI may not be what spoiled, ungrateful fans wanted, but it is certainly fun, entertaining, and full of cameos for fans (who actually care to acknowledge them). Marvel VS Capcom Infinite is tons of fun for those who don't take themselves too seriously. Players who aren't worried about any sort of "gamer cred" or elite status in any video game scene will have lots of fun with this game. Introduce it at a family gathering or party and realize that nobody will care about what some loser on YouTube or Twitter said about the game; all most people care about is fun... |
