Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is a bittersweet reminder of better days when Capcom was Capcom. They put all these cameos in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition from all these other awesome IPs that Capcom has made throughout the years, but these cameos only serve as a bitter-reminder of all the sweet, new IPs Capcom once made, but has since abandoned. CPS-I masterpieces like Captain Commando, Forgotten Worlds, Final Fight, along with CPS-II masterpieces like Cyberbots, Night Warriors, and Armored Warriors all feel like IPs Capcom has absolutely no desire to revisit, despite how easy it would be to do so in a market where "indie games" are socially-accepted and cool to like. These cameos are even insulting to Capcom's own IPs, if you think about it. Much like Dead Rising 4, the message here is that those IPs are only good-enough to make a "cosplay" costume appearance. |

To the ruling elite who have taken over Capcom, Capcom's old IPs are apparently not good-enough to be in a new game of their own. And this is why we hate the ruling elite. There's no reason why something should be taken away from some because others don't like it. There's doubt in my mind that the designers of these iconic IPs wouldn't want to make successor titles. They're designers. These IPs are their passion! Seeing Capcom do cameos of their beloved IPs in SFVAE is painful because we see how much they've ignored those IPs over the years. Even worse, perhaps, is how they can apparently put in the effort of making costumes for these IPs, but not actually make these characters for a new Marvel VS Capcom or other VS game. I mean, the question on everyone's mind when they see these cameos is that if they can make the effort to do nearly-identical costumes for SFV, then why can't they do the actual characters for new games in those characters' respective series? |

To be honest, characters like Donovan and Jin were done so well that they look identical to their source characters. In all honesty, if they're doing this because they're trying to please both sides and keep SF without competition, I'd be fine with them not making another SF game. If keeping SF alive means that none of their other IPs can live, then I'm willing to let SF go. I'd be willing to sacrifice SF and eSports to keep the rest of Capcom's IPs alive. It's a selfish thing to sacrifice decades of timeless masterpiece IPs to keep a single series alive. They could rotate IPs, but that's still not ideal, and with as slow as Capcom works these days, we'll all probably die before we see many of IPs resurrected. I love Street Fighter, but when do we draw the line? Isn't the ruling elite that has taken over Capcom all about equal opportunity and representation? Only making SF games goes against that. Ignoring all of Capcom's other IPs goes against that. The hypocrisy of real-life Liberal politics is taking over video games quicker than we think. |
